Dog On It: A Chet and Bernie Mystery by Spencer Quinn

Move over you mystery-solving cats, there’s a new detective on the beat and his name is Chet. Chet is a Grade-A leaper (“I was the best leaper in K-9 class, which had lead to all the trouble in a way I couldn’t remember exactly, although blood was involved.”) and a first-class detective. He and his human partner Bernie Little run the Little Detective Agency, “missing persons a speciality”.

When the are hired to find Madison Chambliss, it seems a pretty simple case of a teenage runaway. Especially when she turns up unharmed a few hours after they start the case. But the case is far from closed and Madison disappears again.

Is this simply a case of a troubled teen running away from a broken home? When Chet’s nose leads him and Bernie to some pretty seedy spots it’s clear that this is’s not. It doesn’t take a nose like Chet’s to tell that something about this case smells fishy.
